GARDEN CITY BEACH, SC

Ellen passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2010 at Myrtle Beach Estates in Garden City. She had been a long time resident of Jensen’s retirement community in Garden City Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren Siegmund, Sr. in November, 1992 and a daughter Linda S Siegmund in November, 1997.

She was a member of American Legion Post 178 in Murrells Inlet and previously a member of Post 184 in Webster, MA. She graduated from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and Northeastern University Medical School prior to enlisting in the United States Army. Ellen served aboard the hospital ship USS Hope as a First Lieutenant in the South Pacific during World War II. Later she became School Nurse for the Town of Webster, MA and retired as Head Nurse/Practitioner at Monson State Hospital, a facility for special needs people. Ellen was also the world’s greatest Atlanta Braves fan, even during the bad years.

She leaves a son, Warren Siegmund and his wife, Diane of Murrells Inlet, SC; a son, William Siegmund and his wife, Beverly of Oklahoma City, OK; and a daughter, Beverly Sherwood and her husband, William of Southbridge, MA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ellen will be buried at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA on Cape Cod beside her beloved husband. A private memorial service will be held for family members at the Cemetery in the near future. She requested no donations or flowers, asking only that you do something good for someone every day.
